While we know that education is vitally important for our young community members, we know it is equally as important for our business owners to have continuous opportunities to learn.  This is one of our core values here at the Red Oak Area Chamber, and we strive to meet businesses where they are, and provide resources to help them succeed.

Serving as the Education arm of the Chamber, the newly formed NEC Business Institute is designed with business owners in mind. Throughout the year, we put together Educational Series geared toward business owners.  Topics range from financial literacy to John Maxwell Leadership studies.  As this program continues to grow, we will continue to add more opportunities to support our local business community

One of the most powerful tools at your disposal is the Navarro SBDC. The SBDC offers one-on-one consulting at no cost to both startup and existing businesses for loans and financing, financial statement analysis, marketing, accounting and record keeping, sales, advertising, business planning and management. Opportunities for business growth, government contracting, exporting, market expansion and new emerging technologies can also be explored.

In 2021, the Ennis, Waxahachie, and Red Oak Area Chambers came together to start a new initiative called Leadership Ellis County. Leadership Ellis County offers a unique opportunity to be part of a ten-month experience during which participants will learn about themselves and about the many different communities that are part of Ellis County. In addition, they will make lifetime friendships with individuals representing the diversity of the county. At the end of the program year, those who complete the program will discover that their LEC experience has been life changing, professionally and personally.

Leadership Southwest is a cooperative effort sponsored by the Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville and Lancaster Chambers of Commerce. Founded in 1985 with 23 participants, Leadership Southwest is in its 33rd year of developing leaders and has graduated over 1,100 participants.

Leadership Southwest’s mission is to connect people and prepare them as leaders to shape the future of Southwest Dallas County. We do this by giving civic-minded people a vehicle for their community-oriented energies and providing access to community leaders and policy makers over the course of nine months.

With Glenn Heights being one of the member cities of the Best Southwest, the Red Oak Area Chamber is now a new Chamber partner in this program, and we are beginning to get involved in this fantastic opportunity for our members.
